The boring Oscars.

I don't remember the last time I watched the Oscars. I usually haven't seen the movies nominated and if I have I'm disappointed in the winners. Instead I'm usually looking at what everyone is wearing, you know the important stuff. Well even that has gotten boring with actresses who either don't have a sense of having fun with clothing or their stylists who have no balls. So earlier today I decided to humor myself by seeing what other blogs were naming their best and worst. Not surprising my top three looks were named the worst, with blogs like Khloe Kardashian praising the likes of True Grit's Hailee Steinfield. Granted she wore Marchesa, the colour flushed her out and the length made her look stumpy. And Penelope Cruz that looked like a stuffed sausage in that body hugging dress, a month after baby or not someone should've told her it wasn't the right time to wear such a scandal. Even Perez who thought Mila Kunis was "stunning" for the night. As I shake my head reading that I wonder if he didn't notice the lavender curtain she wore. It seems that the taste level in americans have become a bit mundane. I think if you're not having fun whats the point of putting it on? My top three picks are below, with Halle Berry in Marchesa, Florence Welch (without the machine) in Valentino and Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture . They had  fun in tiered lace, ruffled organza placed unexpectedly and structured, strong shouldered embellished lavender.-your Dealer

London Fashion Week.

London fashion week has ended and the editors have already moved on to milan. Here are my top five picks from LFW.

Sarah-Jane Clarke and  Heidi Middleton, the duo behind Sass & Bide described their Fall collection as "an elegant and ladylike urban warrior". The inspiration was apparent, with their use of tribal prints from all around the globe, mixed with their rich colours of pinks and corals. There were pieces of cloth draped and folded every which way over pants, versatile enough to be paired with another garment for a completely different look. For a fall collection there weren't many outerwear looks amongst the silk and baby doll dresses. You sorta go on this journey somewhere else while viewing the collection, forgetting that it's for fall. What do you expect from two Aussies?

Matthew Williamson's collection for Fall was a bitt different from his usual bohemian aesthetic. Instead he melted it into a tougher and a more artsy look. That geometric printed parka with the black leather sleeves that opened the show and those buckled wooden platform shoes so far from what we usually see from him. The skintight leather biker pants, roomy cut trousers and that shift dress with the beaded collar was a delightful surprise from his usual flowing silks. My favorite look on a stern looking Theres, the most perfect orange trousers and grey biker jacket with the fur scarf. Showing the Spring trend of coloured pants moving forward into Fall. It was the definition of an effortless cool girl. It was the first time in 14 years the designer didn't use a stylist for his show and maybe that made a difference in how wearable the collection was.

Craig Lawrence amazes me with his innovation with knitwear. But this season he just seduced my heart with his dark rich navy, purple, of course black and the weaving of synthetic fibers with jersey and velvet. Built to perfectly fit  each models silhouette. That turtleneck navy dress with the overlay of weaving would make my heart burst into confetti if Angie(Jolie) wore it to a premiere. The way the clothes looked as if they were turned inside out to show that rough texture was refreshing. It was definitely a collection inspired by the night with a goth edge, but it will take a confident girl to wear these pieces and not allow them to take over.

Seems like Amanda Wakeley's collection for fall was sophisticated with slim silhouettes and accented with glitter and fur, perfect for any posh Londoner. A collection mainly done in black and camel, the clothes didn't disappoint. Those lavish furs that accompanied cinched waist sweater dresses. Her dresses were impeccable, that gorgeous shoulder cut out black dress with the gold hardware as cuffs, perfection. Lets not even discuss that cream shift with its glittered hem and well executed shoulders. I would have liked to have seen a variety in shoes, but all the gorgeous fur distracted me so its ok.

Henry Holland's personal style I admire for its youthful approach and is always very evident in his collection for House of Holland. No surprise it was in full swing this season with a mix of an older feel fit for your grand. The little nighties peeking out from under dresses and patent leather embellished trenches meshed them both well. Taken apart the nighties could have worked alone and the same goes for the dresses that were drastically shorter to show them off. His tweeds were done in eye catching colours, cut into little biker jackets and shorts and even a sweet sexy little onesie suit with black detailed flaps. The fun prints of eyes on housecoats and nylons weren't done to play bingo in. That orange sweater with gold pearls was my favorite and what the whole collection was about. I might be a bit biased with that look because I'm obsessed with gold pearls at the moment. The afghan print that was done to make scarves and sweaters in bright colours also made its way on a party dress encrusted with jewels. He didn't forget about his thorough direction with his slogan tees and sweaters, never forgetting what sells. We all want a piece of HOH.-your Dealer

Photo of the day.

When I see a photo of Nancy I automatically think of the chapter in Berlin Bromley when she transfers crabs to a friend just by sleeping on the same floor. OOC.-your Dealer.

Spring Trends.

With the trends set for fall we get ready for spring in real life, and these are some trends for the season.

Floral print pants/shorts- I prefer the shorts instead of the pants, but both looks work if you wear them right. With shorts I think an over sized top, edged out with a pair of dark boots looks good, but I also think with colours on top that are similar pick up the colours in the shorts/pants brings it together even without the juxtaposition.

Black and Khaki combo- Tan, khaki and camel colours are usually reserved for the winter, but this is a way to take those looks from cold weather to spring. Its quite simple to work, anything goes when it comes with this uniform look. I personally like the look of a huge khaki dress shirt, boyfriend jeans and sandals.

The cool suit- Sometimes a formal suit can just feel uncomfortable, so mix and match. Cropped trousers, coloured blazers accented with a cool no non-sense attitude completes the look.

Masculine meets feminine- This is one of my favorites you can never go wrong, for babes or blokes. Babes can raid their boyfriends closets, but make sure that there are delicate details, a purse, feminine colors and a heel never fails. Same goes for the blokes.

Meggings- They were all over the spring runways in Europe and landed at Rad for the fall runway. Its about time this caught on, I've been doing this for years. How else am I supposed to wear shorts in the cold.-your Dealer.

New York Fashion Week.

So NYFW ended on thursday night and by now everyone are settling into LFW. New York was filled with tons of colour, surprise for fall collections when they are usually muted or dark. Designers showed lots of fur and leather and combinations of both in one. These were my favorite collections from NYFW.

Christian Siriano, the reality TV star, wonder kid and exceptional designer hired the Olsen twins' stylist this season to keep his obvious love for glamour in check. Was the hire to prove himself to ones that still overlook his talent? I don't think there was a need from past seasons, I've been a fan from the very beginning. The show started on a slight dark feel, the first ten looks were all black. With tailored jackets paired with sheer skirts and platform ankle boots with gold accented hardware. The collection then took a turn into a more refined lady, as refined as he could get.Turtlenecks with a tulip skirt or a great pair of cut trousers, with a wide leg.His gowns were still there, dramatic and well done.My favorite was the gigantic pink petal skirt paired with the sheer silk grey tee, reminiscent of Isaac Mizrahi circa Unzipped. Siriano has a point of view that is pure glamour, young glamour. He designs for that young girl with an unlimited bank account.

Last season Prabal Gurung showed a collection filled with prints and high beam yellows which I fell in love with. This season I fell in love with how well he did undone, black and highlight of reds. That gorgeous red number that opened the show on Karlie Kloss swayed down the runway in all its un-steamed glory setting the tone for the show. Which was followed by black furs, and more little red dresses. The adventurous designer took a risk with a colour story of reds and blacks that then ended in a pale pink. You also have to appreciate the way he does pants with such a great flare. The gowns made a statement, the one red chiffon with the fur jacket that faded from white to red, exposed zipper, thin leather belt with sleeves just a bit short of the wrists.I wont be surprised if the dress ended up at the oscar.

Alexander Wang went back to his roots this season with his cool, tough girl attitude. Making fun of all the fur rage this season he had fur on sunglasses and shoes. There were so many looks I saw myself wearing. The look on Jourdan Dunn, the sequined purple-ish pants with the boyfriend blazer that had parka sleeves and fur collar. The tuxedo jacket also with the parka sleeves was genius and looked so modern and fresh. There were outer wear that had trains or the poncho jacket combo, glittered pipelined jeans, and slashed ribbon dresses. He was having fun with his own interpretation on elegant, luxurious clothes.

Alexander Herchcovitch showed a collection out of his normal vibrant prints instead there were blacks and greys accented with a pop of neon yellow here and there. The collection was more about textures and shapes. The use of lace that softened the edge of the looks which made for a perfect pairing. The jackets that strapped arms down your side looked smart and fun, similar to a jacket worn by a person who escaped the mad house, they have my name written all over them. Even without the prints you still saw the work off an odd mind.

Rad by Rad Hourani designs for the forward thinker, a minimalist who likes excess. I fell in love with RAD a  couple seasons back when he did those white denim jeans with the black plastic zippers at the knee. These days my admiration has grown for his aesthetic, the way he merges the lines of gender, almost erasing it. His collection was filled with both male and female models wearing identical tights and shoes with heels, even for the men. His twenty five looks consisted of essential pieces you can wear wrapped, folded, forward and backward. The sleeves that went below the fingers covering the entire arm was something out of a futuristic movie. The jackets with enlarged lapels were worn open on the runway but I just picture them closed on a good winter day and how exceptional they would look framing the face. The looks are edgy but the design doesn't get lost they're still very wearable, I see myself in the folded leather shirt and baggy shorts over tights heading out for takeaway. This young designer has a follower in me for sure.-your Dealer.
