New York Fashion Week S/S 2012. Day 3.

Christian Siriano's collection was a kaleidoscope of colours, basic tees, beautiful bias skirts and exquisite gowns. What a great idea to put a floor length evening skirt with a breton shirt, and in those colours. Just such simple silhouettes but so much glamour. It was a collection for the cool city girl, that coral pant suit belongs in my closet and that white blazer with the pleated green skirt and red belt could accompany it as well. His cocktail dresses didn't disappoint either, shredded tulle to give a feather effect, the streamline of some of them could throw a blazer or jacket over it and make it very daytime. His palazzo pants were done so well with the slight detail at the waist. But it was gowns that stopped traffic, all that magic in those colours, and layered organza everywhere

                                                           

Nicole and Michael Colovos showed their collection for Helmut Lang on a runway for the first time in five years. They showed a collection with a cool, city vibe. Lots of black and leather. There was a blazer to go with every draped T-shirt. Jackets were cropped and longer in the front than the back. The pant were effortless, loved the ease of the skinny cut, bunching at the ankle. The tees, were asymmetric and draped, but I really liked when they layered them. The only colour in the collection, yellow, was done in the dress that draped so beautifully in the front. Also the yellow combined with the over sized brush strokes made for a great print. It was a very wearable collection.

Prabal Gurung's collection had prints of a withering flowers in purple, green and black. There was a gorgeous dress with a black leather and silk cord harness. He hand painted and tinted latex for a coat, and lined a laser cut leather T-shirt in mesh. There was tons of peekaboo, sheer panels on hips and waists  of dresses. And some more see through than others, like that nude sheer dress with the beautiful black details. The gowns at the end young hollywood are going to fall in love with, especially that long sleeve purple number, sexy and eloquent. -your Dealer.

New York Fashion Week S/S 2012. Day 2.

Flowers seemed to be the inspiration for spring at Peter Som. The blown up candy, multicoloured flower prints was a perfect combination with the almost mod 60s silhouettes. The stacked, chunky loafers was a perfect match. His take on the trench dress with an oragimi-esque flower at the neck, sleeveless and with a hood was brilliant, the two bikinis in the collection had such an eloquent cut on the waist. And that powder blue and pink coat reminded me of a modern day Jackie O. The denim and houndstooth tweed suits that had the hood, DIED. He also added a little sex appeal with little lace details, like on that muted coral dress going from  the armpit around the back. But that boxy bright magenta eel skirt, blue floral short sleeve shirt and the black necklace shut it down.

Jason Wu's collection was young and effortless with hints of Cristobal Balenciaga. The super short sport shorts reminded me of knickers, but I thought they were absolutely divine, in the print, the heather grey and paired with thin belts, although he may have to have long legs to wear them, they were still genius. The lightweight nylon parka in powder pink can serve as a young girl's option for a shawl on a spring evening out. The flared skirt dress is where the Balenciaga nostalgia came in. His Collard shirts had slight details of sparkly gems on the collars. The pair of trousers on Ajak Deng with the neon collard, sheer shirt was brilliant the cut was exceptional, I need those in my life.

Yigal Azrouel produced a well tailored collection. The wide leg trousers in that royal blue were impeccable, but then when they came out in the orange leather I almost died. I wanted them instantly. The looks were very attractive, wearable and practical, yet still very stylish. Neat suits in grey, loose fitting dresses, collarless coats, and that yellow and black print in the dress and jumpsuit was sexy. That white, knee length, halter dress and the white wide legged trousers with the grey blazer with no collar, to die for. But it was the grey ankle suit with white details and white sheer shirt that had my name all over it. Well that was my top 3 for day 2.-your Dealer

New York Fashion Week S/S 2012. Day 1.

What a delight the first show of the day was, BCBG Max Azria. It was a collection entirely of dresses, except for the two pairs of pants. The silk dresses in mustard, blues, corals and pops of neon swayed behind the models like there was a wind machine in front of them. The silk dresses were came in different lengths, some at the ankle and some a bit above the knee. They were colour blocked, layered, and featured the unexpected cutout. The necklines were crew and V and some hemlines asymmetric. There were art deco prints and pleated details in the random places, like the grey,white,black and coral number on Arizona that had pleating going entirely down the middle. EAch and every dress can transition from day to evening easily, thats properly why they were shown with clutches and the models' makeup a beautiful natural dewey coral and slicked back urban jungle simplistic hair.

The Richard Chai Love collection was casual and cool, with I think only one pair of heels in the whole collection. But the women's oxfords did have a slight wedge and by slight I mean half an inch. Loads of colours and prints layered over each other in the perfect way. It was a well styled collection, the mens trousers rolled to the ankles, patent oxfords on the girls with purple printed leaves, collared dress and their lips to match in a deep purple. It was a very masculine friendly collection, the pairing of the down striped trousers with the across striped knee length dress was so good. The black and striped blazer with the white sheer back I thought was absolute genius. Richard has an eye for mixing prints and colours and he's also hot too.

There were chicly dressed traveling gypsies on the runway at Nicholas K, the side swept hair, head scarves and rope being used as belts. But it was the layer that gave that "I never know when I'll be home again" effect. But there was also this grunge appeal with the shredded knitwear and leather pieces. I adored the dark grey cardigan with the attached piece that hung all the way down to the model's knee over the light grey layered dress with the  boots. The men's looks, cropped trousers with oversized cardigans. And shorts rolled up over thermals under them at knee length was so sexy. A guy that wears that can definitely buy me a drink. I wanted everything in the collection. These three shows have me a bit excited for what the week might have in store. Now I'm off to cause some trouble out at FNO's events.-your Dealer.

FAll 2011/2012 Video ad campaigns.

Designers are releasing ad campaign videos to go along with their collections again this season. Gucci's is everything Gucci, its glamorous and filled with modern day supermodels. The setting and clothes look great under the red light. The still shots also look just as good.
But Alber Elbaz for Lanvin did a magnificent job, it's my favorite. The Lanvin ad features Raquel and Karen dancing choreography to the most unexpected song. Their cheekiness doesn't take away from the clothes. It ads a a certain personality to what we may expect a Parisian fashion house like Lanvin may not have. Its just plain old fun. Because of watching the ad over and over again I think I now love the song. Its  kind of like that moment in Easy A when emma stone finally appreciates "A pocket full of sunshine". Zombie boy and Andrej Pejic for Auslander.

Brazilian label Auslander has recruited two of the highest in demand Models of the moment. Mugler muse Rick Genst (Zombie boy) and gender bender Andrej Peijic for their S/S 2012 Campaign. I am very delighted with this, it's so forward thinking and brave. Auslander took a gamble by using a guy who has more tattoos than blank skin and a guy whose Dossier cover of him with no shirt was censored. Because some suits felt he looked too much like a girl. They're both highly controversial. But the connection they have with each other in this campaign is brilliant. Its young, fresh and forward thinking. Bravo.-your Dealer.

Kate's autobiography.

So Kate Moss's new husband Jamie Hince is trying to convince her to write an autobiography. The usually private supermodel never sits down for interviews with journalists and tries to keep her personal life as private as possible. Which would make for an interesting read and may also fly off the shelves. Kate's fans will definitely be eager to read about the supermodel's relationships with Pete Doherty, Johnny Depp, her daughter Lila Grace and her friendship with Naomi Campbell, what was she thinking that night she was recorded with a rolled up British pound up her nose. I want to know what was going through her mind between those always dazed, offset eyes when it went public. I hope this story circulating the fashion crowd isn't just a rumor.-your Dealer.
